An arrangement of the Thelonious Monk classic, “‘Round Midnight,” inspired by the original lyrics written by Thelma Murray, which were never actually recorded. Beginning with the words “Since You Went Away…I Missed You,” the lyrics describe an intense longing for one who is lost.

This arrangement captures the many sensations of loss, beginning with the initial grief heard in the melodic statement, progressing through several sudden key changes and a blistering sax solo reflecting agony and unrest, then ultimately giving way to a quiet peace reflected in the chorale-like ending.
