Elegy (for Jazz Orchestra) won the 2018 FirstMusic commissioning competition of the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Band. After a Gil Evans influenced symphonic introduction, the piece jets into a dramatic alto sax/tenor sax dueling solo as band backgrounds drive the piece towards a cathartic climax at the end.
